Introduction

Mentimeter is an audience participation tool that lets you create interactive quizzes, polls and Q&As to use with your students.

Access

Coventry University has an enterprise license with Mentimeter that is now available to all staff across the University Group.  An Enterprise license will give you unlimited questions per presentation, the possibility to collaborate with your colleagues and peers and much more.

We recommend that users use Chrome to access Mentimeter, however it is possible to use other browsers. More information about this, and other technical requirements, is available here.

Some information on how to use the “Spinning Wheel” activity is available through this link. However, please be aware that it will no longer be possible to add this activity to your presentations from 26th February 2024. Those who are using the feature before this date will be able do so until the feature becomes unsupported from May 2024.

Frequently Asked Questions

Joining and responding to a Mentimeter Quiz

How many people can respond on Mentimeter?
As we have an institutional plan, up to 2,000 people can respond. However, 50 people can respond with the free plan.
Can people outside of Coventry University respond to a Mentimeter presentation?
Anyone can respond to a question on Mentimeter.
How long do the QR code and joining link last?
The code to join a presentation is temporary. however, its validity can be extended in the “share” section of the presentation. The direct link for voting and the QR code always stay the same.
Can students respond to Mentimeter questions outside of a class?
Students can complete the quiz, even though the presenter is not presenting. However, the presenter will need to select “audience paced” in the presentation settings. More information is available here.

How can I ensure that my presentation is inclusive?

Can you mix “popular question types” with “quiz competition” slides?
Yes you can. Mentimeter will keep track of the scores, even if popular question types are mixed in between quiz competition slides.
Is it possible to integrate Mentimeter with Aula?
This is not currently possible. However, a link to a presentation could be added onto an Aula page. Students could then click on the link and complete the quiz at their own pace (so long as the “audience pace” feature was selected, please see above on how to enable this setting).
Can you export slides out of Mentimeter?
Yes you can. If you click “view results” and then on “download pdf” in the top right hand corner of your presentation, you will be able to download all of the slides.
Is it possible to embed video/audio into Mentimeter?
It is only possible to embed videos, not audio slides. In addition, only videos from youtube can be embedded, and any quiz question (hosted in Mentimeter) would need to be on another slide.
How can artificial intelligence help me create quizzes more efficiently?
Mentimeter have integrated an AI feature which enables the software to create a menti from your description. Once created, you can adjust the menti to your needs, if you need to.
