| How can feedback be provided to students through Inspera? | Feedback can be provided in a variety of ways: Providing predefined feedback in automatically marked questions for each alternative.Providing predefined feedback for each question.This can be for the question as a whole (automatically and manually marked questions) or defined by marking bands (manually marked questions).By use of rubricsAdding annotations and page notes (manually marked questions)By providing written general feedback on the submission. | How can questions be randomised? | Randomisation features can be applied to Sections within a Question Set and there are also some question types with built in randomisation. Within a Question Set the order that all questions are presented can be randomised. Alternatively using the ‘pull’ functionality a specific number of questions can be pulled from the bank of questions in the Set. | How do we give External Examiners access to questions for pre-moderation and student work for post-moderation? | External examiners will be given access to Inspera once view only roles are available. This is expected in Q1 2026. | Can images and videos be uploaded as part of the question? | Images and videos can be uploaded as part of the question information for students. These can be uploaded to individual questions or uploaded as a ‘stimulus’ where they can be a source of reference for a collection of questions. | How can individual comments and annotations and personalised feedback be provided to students? | Individual comments and annotations can be provided against each question, for both manually marked and automatically marked questions, using ‘annotations’ and ‘page notes’. Annotations can be attached to specific words or sections of the student submission. Page notes are general annotations on the individual question. | Can Inspera assessments be accessed through mobile devices? | Inspera assessments can be accessed through phones and tablets. It is possible to preview how questions will display on different mobile devices in the ‘design’ tab when creating a Question Set. |
| Does Inspera do anonymous marking? | Inspera only includes the student ID and no name details. When setting up assessments using the LTI1.3 integration from Aula this means the ID is the first part of the students’ email address. If this does not meet the requirements for anonymous marking then assessments will need to be set up manually, not using the LTI1.3 integration. | When marking/grading can groups be set up to allocate students to specific markers/graders? | Committees can be used to set up groups for individual or sub-sets of graders to which students can allocated. This means these graders only see the student submissions allocated to their Committee. This feature can be helpful for managing the grading of large cohorts. | Can question sets be created that draw upon a scenario or case study? | Scenario or case study information can be uploaded to a Section, with set of associated questions, within the wider Question Set. This is achieved by creating a new Section, changing the layout of the Section and adding a Stimulus. The Stimulus is the scenario or case study information which can include text, image, audio or video. Web links can also be included though note these will only be accessible on open book assessments. To add a stimulus a new Section needs to be created in a Question Set.
