The Monitor role in Inspera provides an overview of students progress and status in using Inspera and as they progress through specific assessments. Access to the Monitor module is available to those with Planner, Chief Invigilator, Invigilator or Grader roles.
Through the Monitor module you are able to check progress on your module’s assessment or monitor individual student progress and engagement.
- To monitor progress on your module’s assessment, from Setup page for your assessment in Deliver click on the button showing the number of candidates on your test and this will take you to Monitor and show only students on your test.
- To search for individual students, use their ID, which is the first part of their email address.
Explanations of some of the key columns in Monitor is provided below. For full details of all the columns available through Monitor see Columns in Monitor.
- ID – is the student ID number, where tests have been set up using the LTI integration with Aula this will be the first part of their email address. You can search for individual students using this ID. A separate line will be shown for each test that the student has access to.
- Status – shows whether students are online or inactive. Where a time is shown this indicates when the student last accessed Inspera. If this is blank it indicates the students have not yet accessed Inspera.
- Progress – the options displayed in this column are:
- Inactive: this indicates whether the student has not logged in ever (will also have status column blank), or whether they are offline
- Dashboard: if dashboard is showing it means the students are logged into Inspera but not logged into a test
- Ready: means the student has completed all the browser checks and is ready to start a test
- In progress: means the student is doing the test (how long they have been in is shown in the ‘Minutes spent’ column
- Submitted: means the student has completed and submitted the test
- Submission saved – time when the test was last saved, note Inspera will save continuously as students work through the test. If the time is past it indicates the student has not made any updates to their responses since that time.
- Submitted – the student has completed the test and submitted answers at the time shown.
- Minutes spent – number of minutes since the test was opened by the student.
Additional columns can be displayed using the ‘Columns’ icon at the top right of the screen.
It is through the Monitor role that additional time can be given to students who have IEA’s. How this is done is covered in this article.
