| Candidate | This is the term used for Student |
| Committee | Committees are used in Grade. A Committee refers to a group of one or more graders who are responsible for assessing and grading candidate work. It is possible to create a Moderator role in a Committee. |
| Grading, Grade & Mark | Grade is the module used for the marking process within Inspera. When ‘grading’ marks will be allocated to each individual question and an overall Grade will be generated based on the threshold levels created when the assessment was scheduled. |
| Inspera Exam Portal (IEP) | The IEP is the lockdown browser that is used for remote students, is those unable to attend an in-person invigilated test. |
| Labels | Labels are keyword tags that can be applied to Questions. They can be used to help search for specific questions and filter Questions when selecting questions from your question bank to add to a Question Set. |
| Question | Question is used to refer to the specific individual item created and added to the question bank in the organisational unit you have access to. Questions are pulled together into Sections within Question Sets for assigning to a test. Questions can be automatically or manually marked or not marked. The latter can be used for information pages. |
| Question Set | Question Sets are used to group and structure questions for scheduling as a test. A Question Set will typically be made up of a number of Sections each containing different groupings of questions. |
| Safe Exam Browser (SEB) | The Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is a lockdown browser that prevents access to any websites that have not been allowed in the test settings. SEB is available through AppsAnywhere. |
| Section | A section is defined as a group of questions within a Question Set. They are an organisational feature which allows the presentation of questions to be determined. For example have one question or multiple questions per page; providing a split screen to have a Stimulus displayed; or providing for randomised delivery from a group of automatically marked questions. |
| Stimulus | Added to Sections, they are a text area that can be displayed to the left or at the top for each question in a Section. For example, for displaying example/case study information that is required for the question. Useful for authoring authentic/analytical questions. |
| Test | This is the standard term used in Inspera for all types of assessment (e.g. exams, quizzes, assignments) and whether they are formative or summative. |
