This article briefs you on the settings you can modify on a template after applying it to a test on Inspera.
Once you have added a template to a test in Inspera, you can still modify the settings as long as the test is not activated. Once the test is activated, you will need to deactivate the test if you would like to edit/change the settings. However, this can only be done as long as NO candidates have started the test.
In Inspera, certain elements of a template can be modified without impacting other parts of the test setup. Below is a breakdown of settings you can edit independently on the setup page, without affecting other options:
Single attempt templates
- Title name and information
- Time settings – start time, end time, and duration
- Late submission
- Security settings – All options
- Exam day settings – All options
- After test settings – All options
- Grading workflow settings – Confirmation of marks and grades, Question assignment
- Explanation of grades settings – Explanation of grades
Multi-attempt templates
- Title name and information
- Time settings – start time, end time, and duration
- Choose method for attempt creation – Add attempts
- Choose how attempts are available to candidates
- Select the final results criteria
- General Settings – Enable candidate report
- Exam day settings – Lost connection alert
- After test settings – All options
- Grading workflow settings – Confirmation of marks and grades, Question assignment
- Explanation of grades settings – Explanation of grades
Changes you make to the settings of the template will not affect the original template. However, they may potentially affect the intended navigation, post-test behaviour and/or grading workflow. For example, in the After Test settings, the post-submission review option is disabled in the Time-Constrained Assessment (Mark Only) template. If this option is enabled, candidates will be able to view their submission and any pre-defined feedback (if available), and this goes against the intended purpose of the ‘Mark Only’ template.
Other options not listed above may be interdependent and could affect other aspects of the assessment. In such cases, it is recommended to switch templates rather than modifying the settings. For example, if you want to disable the multiple attempt option in the Formative Assessment (Multiple Attempt) template, consider switching to the Formative Assessment (Single Attempt) template instead.
Notes: If you modify settings not listed above and wish to revert to the original configuration, you can reselect the relevant template from the template list.
