Aula Product Updates January 2025
✅Completed Work
Assignments on mobile: Students can now submit their assignments on their mobile devices.
Security:
- Blockage of spam and malicious activities and users. In this sprint, we successfully monitored and deployed these changes in the production environment, ensuring a safer and more reliable experience for users. We remain committed to ongoing monitoring to keep our systems secure.
- New system implemented to log security issues in the institution’s database to track harmful actions and ensure genuine users are not mistakenly blocked.
Session Management Enhancements
- Users remain logged in as long as they are active (moving the mouse, clicking, typing, etc.).
- Auto-logout occurs after 30 minutes of inactivity, with a notification.
- Clicking “Dismiss” redirects users to the login page for a quick re-login without a full authentication process.
- Magic Link login follows the same process, allowing users to re-login via an email link rather than a full authentication process.
Feature Enhancements
- Aula Editor Upgrade: the editor is where educators can create and edit materials. The benefits of this upgrade are a faster performance when building spaces, and an overall improved user experience.
- Data Improvements: data is now more accurate and the dashboards for student assessment had their insights improved.
🐞Bug Fixes
Handin
- Problem: Students would view an error message when they tried to submit to a Handin assignment that had recently changed from “Upcoming” to “Open”.
- Solution: This is now fixed and educators can change their Handin assignments from Upcoming to Open at any time, and students should no longer encounter any errors.
Material Reordering Issue
- Problem: Educators couldn’t reorder materials when the count was too high (200–300 items).
- Solution: we implemented a database fix without impacting the performance of the Aula Editor. It’s still pending deployment.
Participant Count Bug
- Problem: When adding a participant, the count didn’t update automatically (only after a page refresh).
- Solution: Now the count updates instantly even for lists exceeding 100 participants.
